iPhoneRingToneMaker – one of the first and most popular ‘easy’ iPhone ringtone making solutions – has just launched its first Mac version.
I’ve used the Windows version of iPhoneRingToneMaker in the past and liked it, but I have to say this new Mac version trumps it and looks great. The biggest change is that ringtones are now sent directly to iTunes – which presumably makes this a much cleaner and more failproof process in terms of syncing successfully every time with the iPhone, surviving software updates etc.
iPhoneRingToneMaker is super easy to use. Within minutes of installing it, I’ve got ringtones created and synced to the iPhone without a hitch. The user interface for it is intuitive and simple to figure out – browse for music from iTunes, Amazon, or in general folders anywhere on your computer; preview a 30-second slice of a chosen song and adjust the start and end points to your preference (and fade ins and outs as well); when you’re happy hit ‘Create Ringtone’ and then say OK to send it to iTunes.
That’s it. Then just make sure you include your new ringtones in your iPhone sync selections.
iPhoneRingToneMaker goes for $14.95. You can download a trial version of iPhoneRingToneMaker (which seems to limit you to creating three ringtones before you need to register) for Windows or Mac at:

There are a number of good free methods for making your own ringtones – via Garageband and other methods – so there is definitely always a valid argument that says ‘Why pay’ for a ringtone making app like this. My own preference is to use my time other ways. I love an app like this that makes it faster and easier to get ringtones created and I’m happy paying for one.
In fact, I just have – iPhoneRingToneMaker is a keeper for me this time 🙂
