Checking Out The Latest 2.0 Beta
For the last few days I’ve been running the latest beta build of the iPhone 2.0 software, and getting a feel for what to expect come Friday.
So far, I haven’t seen anything unexpected – and just about everything I did expect to see is there and working. Exchange works. Screenshots via the hardware buttons (holding down Home and Power at once) work. Mass delete and move to folders in Mail work.
I keep hitting the App Store occasionally, on the long shot hope it might come out to play – but so far no dice of course.
On this beta version, Mail, Contacts, and Safari actually have a little bit of lag to them – which hopefully will not be there on the final version.
That’s about it for now – I’ll post again if I notice anything crazy or brand new – if any of you all have specific questions on it, fire away and I’ll try to answer them …
What’s with the “Reader” app? Native app for Google Reader?

Hi, I would like to know if there is A2DP? if the syncing is possible by BT? if we can sync notes? if we can have a part of the shared memory to copy texts documents, datasheets, etc?? .. thanks
is the snooze time configurable for the alarm clock yet ?
david6echo – no A2DP, no syncing by BT. Nothing new that I see for syncing notes, or saving docs to the file system as yet either.
CHALL5 – I’ve never really used the alarm clock much, so not sure if this is new or not – there is a Snooze On/ Off button. Nothing else to it – just On and Off.
Thanks for the great review patrickJ. What did you have to do to activate Exchange? Did you have to coordinate anything with your IT dept or did you set it all up yourself from the phone? IF you can set it up yourself, what are the steps? I’m just wondering because WM in his review said he set it up in minutes to work on Exchange. It didn’t sound like there was any hoops to jump through to get it configured. Also, if Exchange is working for you, are you paying more for a enterprise data package? There has been some question on whether a private consumer without a business account would need to pay the enterprise data charges. Thanks.
ColsTiger – setup was easy and straightforward. My company has had ActiveSync / push setup on the Exchange side for quite a while now, to work with a variety of Windows Mobile devices. So, no – nothing to coordinate or do on our Exchange server (I’m one of the guys who originally set it up) – just configured my account as normal on the iPhone and all was working in very few minutes.
Paying more and enterprise data package = Shhhhhhh! No. Not planning to anyway
