On July 11 I called up Rogers Wireless because I was having a problem getting my wireless bill from Rogers’ site. I hadn’t planned to buy an iPhone, but I asked the rep a few questions about the iPhone and ended up buying one (I thought). I was assured that the one I wanted (black, 16 gig) was in stock and it would be delivered by this coming Friday. I made the person on the other end of the line repeat my order once or twice to make sure he had gotten it right.

I wasn’t going to be around a lot last week so last Tuesday or Wednesday (I don’t remember which) I called Rogers to see if I could get a tracking number so I could try to arrange to be around when UPS delivered my phone. I was told that there was a 30-minute wait for the tracking department, but the rep who took my call could get the info and call me back.

A couple of hours later, not having heard anything, I called to ask what was up. The person who took that call said, yes, my rate plan had been changed to the new 6 gig plan and a new voice plan, but no, there was no order on my account for the iPhone, “would I like to be put through to the department that handles the iPhone?” Duh.

I then got someone who confirmed that, not only was there no order on my account for an iPhone, but they were now out of stock. It took me a while and a couple of calls to get my voice and data rate plan back to exactly the way it was before last Friday. (I can hardly wait to see what bloody Rogers does with my next bill.)

The person I spoke to promised to email the person who took my original order and find out what went wrong. He said he would get back to me in 24 – 48 hours. That was 4 or 5 days ago which, by my calculations, is somewhat over 24 – 48 hours. What a surprise!

I’d still like an iPhone, but I don’t know if I can stop hating Rogers long enough to buy one.

I got the last one here. I had to wait an hour for Fido’s order system to come up. No problem to activate!
I had to take a data plan so I took the $15 2meg one. I used my $166 Fido Dollars towards the purchase. This comment done via my iphone using WiFi at home. Good luck!

I got My 16GB black iPhone friday night around 7.30PM. in a Rogers store. No problems with the servers of Rogers & no problems with activation by iTunes. Within 20 minutes, everything was done and I was out with my phone…….I think people are whining for nothing…..
