I’d say this design is a far cry from the last Brando accessory I tried, which actually looked pretty darn cool. SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Holy USB Battery Pack on your wrist, Batman!", url: […]

Cheers!
I wish I could help you out, but my experience mirror's the Akihabara salesman's: this adapter doesn't seem to detect any voice. I just tried it out with Evernote and another voice program. My guess is that the adapters out there are really just based on designs for iPods, since other smartphone (WinMo, Symbian, Android) platforms support A2DP natively on the devices for voice.

Hopefully this will change up in 3.0 and you can have your cake and eat it blue (I just wanted to rhyme, sorry)

Here's another somewhat related question. I live in Tokyo and spent a few hours at the world-famous Akihabara electronincs district, checking the latest Class 2, Ver 2.1 blutooth headsets for my Iphone 3G. I bought the Bluetribe SBT03 A2DP Hi-Fi Headset. They work great, EXCEPT: Bluetooth doesn't seem to work on internet calls. I've installed Skype, now available for Iphone, and te program works great. When i try to talk/receive with the Bluetooth though, they Iphone doesn't differentiate the Skyo internet call from regular internet surfs, and won't activate. I thought about buying a bluetooth adapter that installs at the headphone jack, to simulate regular iPhone cables, which do work great. The salesguys talked me out of it, saying the headphone jack adaptors currently on the market are for music only, and won't transmit the inernet call signals. I don't understand why. Any ideas?

I just looked up the iCombi, but it looks a bit bigger than this. Does it get in your way more? And how do you store your iPhone away with that adapter plugged in?

I’m using the adaptor with Motorola S9s and it works great for music and calls. The adaptor is not designed to work for calls. You have to use the iPhone bluetooth for that and the instructions they gave you are spot on and work fine.

It all comes down to the headset.

I was using an iCombi adaptor before this became available. This is far superior in both looks and performance. It can be found for $40 if you look around.
