Apple Notebook Share Grows to Fourth Overall

According to a new MetaFacts report, Apple has increased its market share as a home notebook PC. Apple is now fourth in that ranking, and has become more popular among higher income, higher-educated, and younger consumers. The self-employed are also turning more and more to the Mac… and for households with a second or third computer, Apple has taken 8% of the market.

I find it hard to disagree with these numbers, as recent experiences out and about in my city hold them to be true. Venture into any college, university, lounge or coffee shop during the day, and I guarantee you that you’ll see your share of MacBook Pros, MacBook’s, and even the occasional PowerBook sitting around. I usually see 5 to 6 Macs for every PC. No lie.

From the same report came some very cool brand loyalty numbers. 81% of households primarily using Macs intend to buy another for their next purchase. Again, can’t argue with those numbers. The vast majority of folks I know (and family) that have bought a mac have stayed with it and bought another for their next computer purchase.

At any rate… cool news! I think we’ll continue to see Apple making gains in market share over the rest of the year… at least I hope so 🙂
