iPhone 2.1 Update Fixes Bugs; Battery life, not so much?

After a day of testing the new 2.1 firmware, I can confirm that the following issues that affected my iPhone have been fixed:

  • Installation of applications from the iPhone’s App Store no longer takes 10-20 minutes.  It now takes 30 seconds or so (depending on the size of the app).   I now actually USE the App Store app!
  • Backups are much, much faster.  The full backup that I ran just prior to the installation of 2.1 took over 2 hours.  The full backup I just ran took just over 13 minutes, incremental backups are taking far less, on the order of 2-3 minutes per.
  • The Contacts and SMS applications are much faster and responsive.

What does NOT seem to be improved thus far is the battery life.  With only one full day of testing, this is far from a conclusive statement, but I did manage to get down to the 20% warning in 6-8 hours, with one or two short calls and lots of surfing/app download/use.   This is about what I would have expected pre-update.

How has the update worked for you?
