Flight sim junkies, you gotta check this one out. X-Plane 9 is a new game to the App Store developed by the folks at Laminar Research… and it’s pretty darn good. Check out the ratings in the App Store!
It’s the most realistic (and maybe only?) flight sim for the iPhone to date. I should note too however, that X-Plane is also available on Mac, Windows and Linux. The simulator uses blade element theory to give the most powerful and accurate flight model available. If you can believe it, the app has FAA certification for logging of flight time for pilots… I kind of doubt the certification applies to the iPhone version, but I could be wrong!
Experiment with flying at different times of day, in different conditions, crazy turbulence, different airplanes and a lot more. You can also choose the view you’d like to fly from, some seem easier than others for sure.
For only $9.99, this powerful, realistic and stunning app can be yours. I highly recommend it.
