Safari 4 Beta Goes Perfect in Acid3 Test

The latest beta of the WebKit engine that runs beneath Safari and other browsers has received a 100/100 score in the Acid 3 test. This makes Safari Beta 4 the first ever browser to achieve this score.

The Acid3 test is considered a benchmark to determine how well (or not so well) a browser follows web standards. As of this moment, Safari 4 is the most compliant browser in history.

To get a perfect score, a browser must be set on its default settings… and with them, animation has to be smooth, the score must end at 100/100, and the final page displayed has to look exactly like the reference rendering. Safari and Opera’s Presto had hit 2 of these 3 conditions back in March. Only now has Safari gone perfect as the result of fast layout engine and optimizations relating to the Document Object Model (DOM) and JavaScript engine.

Cool beans, Safari!
