I had this happen to me yesterday. I tried rebooting the phone, quitting iTunes, and ended up doing a restore and I’m still getting this error. I’ll try shutting off the computer and re-synching when I get home.

Rebooting the iphone doesn’t always work.
I recently suffered some major syncing problems due to the fact that my iPhone one day thought I was in the Spanish Music Store- I found out by trying to read a review of an app.
All my downloaded apps then refused to launch- they just crashed and returned to the Springboard.
In order to fix it I had to try everything. I Signed out of iTMS, Signed in again, delete all the apps, check for purchases and download new copies of the apps and re-sync. Finally I got it working again but what a hassle, I doubt other people would have had any luck, This DRM and copy protection is painful.

I shut down and then restarted both the phone and computer and the problem went away.

I would try to turn off, and then on the phone and see what happens….

I had the same thing happen and I think it’ due to having 3rd party apps on the device. I get the same error you’re seeing but with additional information about which apps couldn’t be synced.
