OpenOffice.org Now Native on the Mac

Everyone’s favorite office application suite is now Native on the Mac. As you may or may not know, OpenOffice.org is a complete suite of office applications that can be used and modified by anyone under the GNU Lesser General Public License. The thing is, for years the Macintosh version was slower and clunkier than it’s Windows and Linux counterparts because it was ran in the X Window System. At last Sun Microsystems (OpenOffice.org’s developers) has released a native 3.0 version, and it does feel quicker.

OpenOffice.org comes with a list of applications ranging from a word-processing application to a spreadsheet. It can handle most file types including Microsoft Office 97-2003 formats, and doesn’t cost a dime so, check it out!
