Apple Has Met the 10 Million iPhone Sales Goal

Apple announced today during it’s quarterly financial update that it had met it’s own goal of selling 10 million iPhones by the end of the 2008 calendar year. Apple CEO Steve Jobs first stated this goal during the unveiling of the first iPhone at the Macworld Expo in January 2007. At that time 10 million iPhones represented 1% of the mobile phone market. Apple has so far sold 6,892,000 iPhone 3G units. This added with the current sales and first generation iPhone models adds up to the 10 million goal.
