New iMac and Mac Mini's to use NVIDIA

The new Macbooks and Macbook Pros are shipping with the new NVIDIA chipset and further evidence suggests that the NVIDIA may be working its way into the new rumored Mac Mini and iMacs.  Apple Insider reported a find in a forum where a user dug into some files and found some evidence that the chips may be used and that new computers are on the way.  The different characters are the following ‘Macmini3,1’ and ‘iMac9,1’ and they would suggest that there be a new computer coming.  Currently the Mini and iMac code reads ‘Macmini2,1’ and ‘iMac8,1.’  They also found that the chipset is listed as ‘CFG_MCP79’ which are the same as the current line of uni-body Macbooks.

Now we have heard rumors of a new launch of a Mac Mini from the Mayor himself.  Maybe we will be seeing Minis and iMacs that are made from a single block of Aluminum and including the same updates as the uni-body laptops.  We can only hope for the future, but personally I don’t think that the announcement will be as good with Jobs not giving the keynote at Macworld.
