It just wouldn’t seem right if I didn’t post a new Macworld rumor today. This time around the rumor concerns iWork… and it’s sort of a biggie if you’re a fan of the suite.
Latest word from the folks at 9to5mac is that iWork is heading to the clouds. That’s right… Pages, Numbers and Keynote are all going to the web… Full interface, features and all. Obviously this raises a lot of questions, but those are really all the details I have at this time. The fellas over at 9to5mac say this news is coming from their best source… and by the sounds of things they have more info, so I’m sure they’ll shed it in the days to come.
I have to admit I’m not too surprised to hear about this. iWork has been long overdue for an update. To my recollection iWork ’08 was last updated in August of ’07. Before that of course was iWork ’06 and iWork ’05… Time for a big update, and perhaps the new web-based iWork suite will hit the mark.
Lets hope (if the rumors are true) that a ‘cloud’ iWork suite does better than the whole MobileMe debacle. Godspeed iWork… I’m pullin’ for ya.
