We’re on Alltop – Thank You, Thank You

I thought I’d share some good news, or good JAiB site news, with you all tonight. We’re now featured very prominently in the ‘iPhone’ section of the Alltop.com site. Hurrah! This is a very cool thing.

For those who haven’t discovered it yet, Alltop.com is a super cool aggregated collection of ‘all the top’ sites on the web – created by Guy Kawasaki and a couple key partners- which offers a very simple (and very easy to navigate) layout that lets you quickly find and view items in all your favorite subject areas, all in one place. It covers a very broad range of topics, from fibromyalgia to fantasy football – and has particularly excellent Tech sections.

Here are some much better words than mine, from the ‘About’ section at Alltop:

We help you explore your passions by collecting stories from ‘all the top ‘ sites on the web. We ‘ve grouped these collections ” ‘aggregations ‘ ” into individual Alltop sites based on topics such as environment, photography, science, Muslim, celebrity gossip, military, fashion, gaming, sports, politics, automobiles, and Macintosh. At each Alltop site, we display the headlines of the latest stories from dozens of sites and blogs.
We import the stories of the top news websites and blogs for any given topic and display the headlines of the five most recent stories (except Moms.alltop which has fewer headlines because there are so many feeds). When you place the cursor over a headline, we display part of the story so that you can decide if you ‘d like to read it. To read the story, click on its title. To go to the home page of the site, click on its domain name.

And a nice FAQ entry on how sites are chosen to be included in a topic area:

Q. How do you decide which sites and blogs are in a topic?
A. We use a patent-pending, semantic computational algorithm derived from the post-doctoral work of Guy at Stanford. Just kidding. We rely on several sources: results of Google searches, review of the sites ‘ and blogs ‘ content, researchers, and our ‘gut ‘ plus the recommendations of the Twitter community, owners of the sites and blogs, and people who care enough to write to us. Let us declare something: The Twitter community has been the single biggest factor in the quality of Alltop. Without this group of mavens and connectors, Alltop would not be what it is today.

So I am very, very happy to see that Just Another iPhone Blog is featured very near the top of the iPhone section, amongst some illustrious company (Gizmodo, Macrumors, Apple Insider, Lifehacker, and many others). Check it out:

Check out the iPhone section for yourself HERE.

Alltop also has a nicely otpimized iPhone site, so you can give it a look on your favorite device as well …

In addition to being very happy, I feel hugely grateful to all of you! For visiting the site, for commenting, for Twittering or otherwise sharing articles you find interesting here, for shouting out for us at Alltop. A complete cliche / truism – but all this stuff really makes it not just worthwhile, but big, big fun to work on the site.

Thank you …
