Ever since I first heard of Eye-Fi I’ve been meaning to get one of the Wi-Fi enabled memory cards for digital cameras. I still haven’t managed to get one, but now there’s an extra incentive – as the maker of Eye-Fi have announced they’re developing an iPhone application.
The app will allow owners of an Eye-Fi card to use their accounts with the iPhone – to upload (wirelessly) photos to a desktop and / or to any of the 25 photo-sharing sites that Eye-Fi supports. This will be a free app, and it’s due to be previewed at Macworld this week – no word yet on an expected release date.
Here’s a little info on the cards themselves, courtesy of the Eye-Fi press release on this subject:
Eye-Fi’s family of products include the Eye-Fi Home, Share, Anniversary Edition and Explore cards with MSRPs ranging from $79-$129 USD. Eye-Fi cards can be purchased at Apple Retail Stores, Best Buy, Circuit City and Ritz Camera Center locations nationwide, and at major online retailers such as Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Costco.com
You can go HERE to sign up to have them let you know when the Eye-Fi app is available in the App Store.
