Troubleshooting: iPhone blogging!

image2083370891.jpgI got pretty excited recently about trying to write more posts right on my iPhone but finding the right program has been a real problem. There are a couple of major issues that keep me from doing even mini reviews from my phone.

Linking…
I did think it was pretty silly that Apple decided against including copy and paste on the platform but I never really cared all that much..until now. How the heck am I supposed to link to anything if I can’t easily copy URLs over to the blogging program? I suppose I could use something like Tinyurl but even that requires the full URL to begin with and I’d still have to type it out in full at some point. Without the ability to link I can’t really do any proper news posts or reviews.

IBlogger
I posted about this app the other day because it’s a $10 that was on sale for $1 and I thought it might be more capable than the free WordPress app. It seems alright so far and it’s a lot easier to set up but the real pain here is the way it handle pictures.
For one thing, I can’t get full-sized screenshots into the blog post. The interface allows me to crop and resize a picture (just like how you set wallpapers on the iPhone) but It always crops out everything outside the center of the screen. This leaves a good 2/3 of the image on the cutting room floor.
What’s more, I can’t choose where to put other images. I can only put one, choose it’s alignment, and have it appear right at the top of the post. I need to be able to put a few more pictures and choose be able to place them.

WordPress App
I am currently unable to log onto WordPress through this app so I’ll have to ask for help for now. I keep inputting the Jaib URL and getting error messages. It’s the only time I curse our URL for being so long. O Cut and Paste, when will you get here already?!

I think I know why you can’t login to the wordpress app.
I assume you are typing this URL: http://isource.com/ but it is not correct!
It seems like wordpress was installed in a /wordpress directory on this blog.
So to be able to login in the wp app, try to enter the following URL: http://isource.com/wordpress/
Try it and tell me how it goes :-)

I’ve never gotten the WordPress App working either. So if you figure out something that fixes your problems with it, please post them!

Blogpress lets you post multiple phones per blog entry. You can resize pictures, align them left, right, center. Also has landscape text entry.

  4. muckdog says:

Er, that should read “multiple pictures per blog entry.”

    Shees.

    will do!

thanks for the tip, I read your last comment on Blogpress and I’m actually checking the Lite version out now. I just don’t want to dive into a $10 purchase without getting to try it out better. Unfortunately the Lite version only allows for text entries.

hmmm just looked at Blogpress a little more but the pics upload to Picasa and I’m not sure I like that as much :(

thanks for the tip — tried that one too for this site and JAMM but that doesn’t work either. Bloody WordPress app is trying very hard to mess itself up and it’s doing such a good job :P

    @ragart,
I had the wm versions of a couple of phone blogging softwares working to JAMM at one point. I think you have to have the W in wordpress as a capital (because of the directory name).

    Good luck
