I can’t type “rivet” on my iPhone
Yeah, not a huge deal but it doesn’t make it any less idiotic. I’m reviewing
Rivet Clips and I can’t even type the word out. Auto correct always insists that I’m typing the word “river” instead. I’m not exaggerating either, I actually can’t finish the word because the letter “t” is de-activated when I get as far as “rive”. I just can’t press it, no matter how slowly I slide my finger. I did read that the iPhone makes certain keys smaller or bigger for auto text entry, but killing a letter is a bit much!
However, I can type the imaginary word “riveg” and the phone auto-suggests “rivet”. Go figure.
P.S. The rivet clip is blocking the “t” key, hahaha so clever.

I’m able to type it. After it auto-inputs “River” just hit backspace, then type the T, then hit the x on the popup window that says “River.”
@TimmyGUNZ
thanks for the tip. Yeah, I was actually writing the word that way before, but I still found it crazy that I couldn’t actually TYPE the word out because the auto-correct would physically keep me from doing so. When I slide the key to finish the word the only letters I can select are “r” and “y” — the “t” is physically and virtually impossible to type.
It just seems so backwards to me that I can’t even type the letter out. I have to use the backspace trick for a lot of words but it wasn’t until today that I realized I just cannot type some of them.
I have the same problem when trying to type the word Stansted, it’s impossible to type the second ‘s’ first go.
I read somewhere a while back that if you create a notepad entry with some custom words that keep giving you a problem, the iPhone dictionary will learn that word and stop the auto-correct. Might be worth trying that.
TimmyGUNZ – I’ve seen (and successfully tested) a similar tip – add your desired word to a Contact and it will be excluded from auto correct.
I tested by adding a profanity to the AT&T ‘Pay My Bill’ contact. That contact is now ‘Pay My effin Bill’ and that word no longer gets corrected to ‘ducking’ in case it’s needed
