We’ve heard a lot recently about Truphone adding Skype support to its iPhone program (and Fring offers some Skype support too) – and now it seems that Skype is developing its own native iPhone app.
The Denver Post’s online site has a report up that quotes Skype’s COO on this subject:
Scott Durschlag, Skype’s chief operating officer, said Skype’s iPhone application is still under development. Engineers are still working on cutting the amount of power the application consumes, he said.
Durschlag also indicated that the iPhone app is ‘not far behind’ the newly released Skype application for the Android platform – so hopefully we’ll be seeing something in the App Store quite soon.
This is very good news I think. It’s great that Truphone and Fring offer Skype support, but I’m quite keen to see Skype’s own offering for the iPhone.
