actually from what I read on the post, “deleting” messages on the iPod Touch on IMAP will just put them messages right into the “all mail” folder in Gmail. So the delete button is essentially an “archive” button.

Maybe it is what you want after all? Although if POP3 is working just fine, maybe it doesn’t need fixin’

I use forwarding from Gmail on my BlackBerry. And I actually like the fact that it doesn’t sync. Why? Because I can keep only the messages I really care about on my mobile device and keep all of them on my desktop mail client and online in Gmail. Because the iPhone/Touch doesn’t seem to offer a “delete only on mobile” option, what I end up with are Gmail and Yahoo! inboxes on my Touch that are basically filled with junk because I have no choice but to keep the messages there if I don’t want them to be trashed or archived in webmail.
