For the Kid in You: Slotz Racer Debuts in the App Store

I couldn’t be happier about this new find in the App Store. It’s a game for all the ‘slot car racers’ out there.

When I was a kid, I had a Aurora AFX ‘Ghost Racer’ slot car set. The thing was awesome. Thankfully we happened to have a ping-pong table that I set the thing up on. I spent hours and hours racing cars on it. I purchased new cars, tweaked the tracks and did all kinds of crazy stuff. I even lucked out and found an identical Ghost Racer setup at a garage sale, so lucky me… I had double the track! Naturally the kid in me came out when I noticed the game of SlotZ Racer in the app store!

Getting back to the game, Slotz Racer lets you race against the computer in ‘championship’ series races. Win the series and win a trophy. Trophies will get added to your trophy case as you progress and win your way through the game. As you go, more cars, more tracks, and more fun will be unlocked.

You can also have a multiplayer game with up to 4 people at a time. Because controls are so easy, you can actually all play on the same device if you wish. Your single control is the throttle, so simply hold down the throttle button and you’ll give the car some gas, let go, and your car will slow down very quickly.

There’s a ton of cars to choose from, and you can race a simple time trial, endurance race (with simulated day/night) or simply hit ‘quick play’ to jump into the action.

Tired of the tracks in the game? You can build your own! Choose between 2 and 4 lane tracks and build your masterpiece of a track. You can choose to offer lane changing, or choose fixed lanes for more of a traditional race.

Priced at $2.99, Slotz Racer is worth every penny… Especially if you were into the whole slot car scene when you were younger (or even now!?). Without a doubt, tons of fun, and one of my favorite games for the iPhone yet. Two thumbs up, way up! 🙂
