Good grief. Not a good way to start my day. A little earlier on this morning, I awoke my MacBook Pro, only to be surprised by the never-welcomed grey screen of death (you know what I mean). Looks like I had myself a good old fashioned kernel panic, which prompted OS X to shut down and ask me to restart.
This makes me nervous. I’ve had my trusty MacBook Pro for around 3 years now, without any major problems at all. I’ve had a few battery issues, but after getting on the phone with Apple’s support line, in both instances they replaced the battery for me. Once, free of charge even though I wasn’t covered by the Apple Care Protection Plan (ACPP).
Quite a few years ago now I had the old iMac with the movable monitor. Things started to go sour with it in almost the same way. Kernel panic here and there… and then eventually I could only run the system for 2 or 3 minutes before I was forced to restart. With this in mind, I’m now of course more than paranoid about the health of my MacBook Pro. I’d absolutely love to pick up a new one, but this system has treated me so well, and in all honesty, I need to spend 2 or 3k like I need another hole in my head.
Pray for me here my friends. I’m probably over-reacting to the situation, but I’ll find out over the next few days if I run into any more problems.
Anyone else out there run into a similar situation with their beloved system?
