Safe Eyes Mobile = Kid Safe Browser for iPhone

Safe Eyes Mobile is a new browser alternative for the iPhone that offers to help shield users from ‘inappropriate web content’ …

The app is produced by Internetsafety.com – a site / service dedicated to protecting users from all that inappropriate stuff. I watched a short video demo of the app earlier, and it looks pretty good. Some of its features include:

  • Access to familiar features – such as bookmarking and multi-page view
  • 35 web-site categories (things like drugs, gambling, tobacco, violence) to set your desired protection level
  • Customizable – you can set separate profiles

One thing that did not look so promising on the demo was that settings were getting applied *per user*. I know in our household, my daughter jumps on both my iPhone and my wife’s at random times – I don’t expect ay of us would much like hassling over a login to a browser application. Hopefully, there is a default, or ‘All Users’ type setting level that can be used so that logins are not necessary.

I’d like to give this app a try, as my little one is already becoming a bit of an iPhone whiz and I really don’t want her to stumble into any really questionable sites.

One thing Safe Eyes Mobile could really use right now though is a ‘Lite’ version – as it is currently priced at a hefty $19.99. In the current App Store environment, that’s very high. I’d need to see a much more complete demo, or better still see a Lite version that proved the app’s effectiveness before shelling out for the full monty – or in this case blocking the full monty 🙂
