How about you?
I know, I ‘m an extremely thoughtful and deep individual and I just come up with the wildest questions. Mind-bending, etc. π
But seriously, especially if we ‘re going to think about the iPhone as a burgeoning (neat word, never use it) gaming platform, I think the darn thing could use another button. A pure touch-screen interface is great, but what functions have you been missing outside of gaming (if any)? We don ‘t need to Treo or Blackberry the device up with a whole d-pad or scroll ball, but another simple button could work and still be elegant.
If the iPhone 3.0 software supports some kind of multi-tasking capability, I think that would best be assigned to another button. The home button already has enough functions mapped to it. Hold it down to terminate an application, tap it to go to the home screen from a program or another home screen, press it in conjunction with power to take a screenshot, or double-tap it to launch phone/iPod. That ‘s a lot of functions for one button.
I could also do with some more shortcuts on the iPhone. Turning wi-ifi on or off is just far too many taps.
The last thing on my little button wish list would be something to scroll a bit more efficiently. This is something I think the Palm Pre is doing with that gesture area below the screen “ allowing you to scroll without blocking what you ‘re reading. I ‘d like Apple to take this one step further and allow me to have some sort of consistent scroll “ or full power over that stinking scroll bar like on a desktop or WinMo device. I ‘m talking tapping the stupid little scrollbar on a long web page and scrolling very quickly to the bottom. The only way I ‘ve found to do this so far is the Safari+ add-on, and even that is just a cheat, really. It makes several bookmarks that give you functions like ‘text search ‘ and ‘scroll to bottom of page ‘. I can ‘t choose to go 3/4 down a web page, but I ‘ll take what I can get for now.
