Contest – 5 Awesome, Free iSteam (Exploded iPhone) T-shirts To Win

Posted on 08 Feb 2009 by PatrickJ

CONTEST DEADLINE: Wednesday 2/11/09 at 12:00pm Central

Thanks to the generosity of Dion and the folks at iSteamPhone, we’ve got another great weekend contest for you. We’ve got 5 of the super cool ‘Exploded Phone‘ t-shirts to give away, and as always it’s very simple to enter for a chance to win.

Here’s a little bit of description on the shirts, from the iSteamPhone site:

Artist Kevin Tong captures the invention of daVinci, the imagination of H.G. Wells, and the brilliance of Jonathan Ive in this Exploded Phone drawing.
The 100-percent cotton American Apparel T-shirts (style 2001) are printed with soft-hand plastisol ink.
This 2-color design is oversized (11 inches x 16.5 inches).

These normally go for $20 – and I just love how they look. The iSteamPhone guys were nice enough to offer me an extra one, so I wouldn’t be tempted to rig the contest to get my hands on one for myself. :) I can’t wait to get it.

Read on for the quick details on how to enter for a chance to grab one of these babies …

How To Win:

  • Just add a comment to this post, and you’ll have on entry into our random drawing of winners on Wednesday
  • For an extra two entries, tell us how you would describe how cool this shirt is to someone who hasn’t seen it yet

That’s it – super easy eh?

Please Note: This is NOT a US-only contest – the lovely, lovely folks at iSteamPhone will ship the lovely shirts to wherever our winners hail from. Check the iSteamPhone site – HERE – for the range of guys and girls sizes that are available, and to get a peek at the great design!

Good luck to all …

i would describe it as the blueprints the past made for todays’s future.

  6. cleveland says:

It’s a great shirt! I love the build up of how the iPhone is compiled. I would explain it with my iPhone on me and show how the parts are connected and how it makes such a great phone and shirt as well!

  7. karthik says:

Great contest! I’d be like, ‘you have to see this cool shirt that rips apart an iPhone and explains the guts of it like Da Vinci would have’.

  8. IndyJonez says:

    That is a fine shirt.

I would respond if asked with “take a moment of your life and stare at the intricacies of the BEST DAMN phone ever created!”

Then I’d pull mine out and make a call. =P

  14. nate94gt says:

    just making a post

  15. JustClem says:

That is a cool shirt. As several people already said, I would describe it as an exploded view of an iPhone done by DaVinci.

  16. Bren says:

    Sweet shirt.

I recently described this shirt to my friend Delbert, who was blinded by a lye-wielding monkey as he explored deepest Borneo on a Segway (it remains unknown where the monkey acquired the lye).

I painstakingly talked Delbert through the various stages of iPhone undress as he lovingly caressed his own iPhone while listening. I described the archaic text surrounding the imagery. I outlined the details of the device deconstruction and separation. Delbert visibly winced as I described how the plastic cover had been sketch as being seemingly pulled apart from the glass touchscreen. Some details were more than Delbert could bear to hear.

Afterward, we reminisced of the fleeting similarities between this design and some of da Vinci’s drawings, but we ultimately concluded that due to the technological advancements in both t-shirt technology as well as the fetishism of personal communication devices, da Vinci’s designs pale in comparison. In truth, there really is no comparison.

da Vinci has been exposed for what he was: a hack. This shirt reaches new heights and expands the boundaries of what was thought possible with t-shirt technology. Angels weep at the sight of it.

  17. harpoon says:

This shirt is so boss, if it was on Dukes of Hazzard it’d be Boss Hogg.

  18. ronw says:

I’d like one. A new master drawn by an old master.

  19. Design says:

I would describe it as an iPhone burger. The screen and plastic backing are the bun, and the inside is the delicious filling…

  20. stanbild says:

I recognise that. It’s Da Vinci’s “Design for a communication device” circa 1505.

  21. olivier says:

    Very nice tee shirt indeed…
However, if my iPhone contains what’s shown on the shirt, i guess Da Vinci is still alive and working for Apple !o)

  22. j4m1eb says:

I would describe it as a brown screenprint on a cream t-shirt in the style of daVinci

  23. thelarster says:

Nice shirt…. an ‘old school’ drawing of an iPhone.

  24. DZV says:

    I would say,

“Dude, daVinci invented the friggin iPhone not Steve Jobs!”

  25. demure says:

    Let me win the shirt!

  26. bman7163 says:

Looks good! Almost makes me want to tear my new iPhone apart to really see everything like this exploded shirt shows!

  27. disconnect says:

    Nice Shirt! I want one!

  28. mdelfs says:

I would say that is an awesome shirt! It does remind me of something out of the first Myst game, if I had to describe it.

  29. TimmyGUNZ says:

Love the shirt. I’d love to get one. I would totally describe it as the modern day Da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man” for the iPhone! :)

  30. cyberjabs says:

    Very Nice!
Like the first Macintosh, this t-shirt is «beige»!

Great idea Mr. Tong! Greatings from Montreal, Canada…

  31. dardar says:

Awesome shirt. This Leonardo inspired “exploded” diagram of the iPhone fits in with any clothing style or dress code, exuding “geek” and “chic” at the same time.

  32. pineconefish says:

I’d describe it as” Old world tech meets new world coo!”

  33. lordhong says:

This is an AWESOME t-shirt!!! VERY VERY NICE!!!

  34. Artissimo says:

I would love to get one of these shirts. I would, gasp, actually wear it in public.

To describe this to a person who has never seen it, I would describe it as follows:

“It is light brown, like old, used paper. If the iPhone was available in the Victorian era, this is what it would look like. This shirt has all the layers of the iPhone pulled apart for you to see.

If you are still unsure of what it looks like, think of the Leonardo Da Vinci image ‘Man’. Instead of the man, an iPhone.”

Good luck to others trying to win this awesome shirt!

  35. jjvaldez says:

this is an awesome shirt, and really want it1

  36. jjvaldez says:

i would describe the shirt as showing the art behind a already amazing machine!

  37. MikeC says:

    Stunning shirt, I. What I told a friend …
“You know how cool my iPhone is and that you drool over it all the time. Well … check out this shirt and see what you think. It looks so Da Vinci like and ultra cool to see the iPhone split open and exploded like that. Pretty sure it is of the 1st gen phone which I used and loved until I got my 3G.

  38. iPhoneMK says:

This shirt is “The Da Vinci dressCode”!
I want it! Macedonia will love it! :)

  39. Enid says:

Best shirt I’ve seen in a long time!! You remember the cover of the Davinci code book – think of that and then think of how an old map or old picture how to build something would look, the coloring and style etc. That is what this shirt looks like. Something very unique.

  40. bc says:

    wow, amazing design.

I would describe it simply as “capturing the essence of invention, like da Vinci and Apple. A must-have!”

oh, and I would post a link on Twitter pointing to your site and to @iSteamPhone to let my friends know about it :-)

  41. SuziKunz says:

iPhones rule !! This TShirt almost rules more !! Looks like some plans from the past, so is a nice mix between something old then something super modern (the iPhone)

  42. Prince says:

You gotta see this tshirt – iphone ready all the way!!!
