Even though Apple is not at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) trade show this week, there still seems to be plenty of iPhone news coming out of the event. One big item today is that a Google exec demo-ed an offline-capable version of the Gmail web app on the iPhone.
In the demo, the iPhone is put into Airplane Mode, and then the web app is launched from its Home screen icon and loads the Inbox (apparently by using the Appe Cache feature included in new HTML5 standards).
The new version of Gmail that he shows off also boasts a floating toolbar that looks interesting.
Check out Engadget’s post HERE, for more details and the demo video.
