Amazon has released a free application that brings Amazon’s propritary Kindle e-books to the iPhone. Although you can not directly acces the Kindle bookstore throught the app, you can download books from Amazon on your Mac, PC, or iPhone with a web browser, and wirelessly transfer the books to your iPhone. You can also read the first chapters of any book before you buy. What if you already own a few Kindle books? No worries. Just download the books you have previously downloaded for free. Lastly you can adjust the text size, add bookmarks, and view the annotations you created on your Kindle device. You can find the Kindle for iPhone app here. (App store link)
