iPhone Still Way (way, way) Ahead in Mobile Browsing Market Share

iPhone mobile browser market share

The iPhone has always shown up very strongly in Net Applications ‘ reporting of mobile browser market share, ever since it was first included in the results.  Even so, February ‘s results are staggering.

It has very nearly double the share of *all* the other mobile OS platforms listed “ with 66.61% as its share.  Windows Mobile, Android, and Symbian do not make up even 20% combined.  Blackberry and Palm both have shares that are below 3%.

Why the particularly wide gap exists between Apple and its rivals hasn’t been explained. However, the data backs up AdMob findings which showed the iPhone getting half of all US smartphone traffic and a third of smartphone use worldwide during the month before. The use has previously been credited to a spike in Apple device ownership after the holidays as well as to the relative strength of the Safari web browser.

I can see why. I picked up an HTC Touch Pro today. i TRIED to browse the internet on it. Mega fail. Sure, if i had never have used an iphone before, i could probably make use of it, but i wouldnt do it just cuz i can, it would be because i had to. Whereas w/ the iphone, i have no problem browsing the internet on it and do it for fun.

Agreed. It’s such a pain to browse in Windows Mobile that I didn’t even bother…
