I am sure you have seen in a recent post the announcement of the launch of Tap Tap Revenge 2. Out of the box this game is much more polished than its predecessor.
According to the developer "It has awesome new graphics and effects, making for a more immersive 3D experience". And this seems to be the case, the background has a nice 3D look – but I do wish it wasn’t the same generic thing every time. You will notice they have added a new difficulty level. Kids mode as it’s called is not as easy as you would expect. In fact I would not expect your average 5 year old to be able to play this difficulty level.
There is also a New ‘tap and hold ‘ and ‘multi-tap ‘ feature in higher levels. This feature may be familiar to you if you ‘ve played Guitar Hero. The problem is sometimes it’s hard to tell if you are holding the notes down successfully because the color of the streaks blend into the background too well. But it’s good to see they are trying to add diversity to the game.
Online play is still available , but is a little clumsy and there are not enough rooms available to fill demand of all the players, so you are often kicked or your track will not download. Another game mode is Career Mode, which tracks how well you play on songs and how many days you play. After completing a task it will give you an achievement, similar to Xbox 360’s system.
The highlight of this game is the music and in this version there is no shortage. My only complaint is that many of the songs have to be downloaded. If they would put more into the game built-in it would be better. Not that this is a big deal, but iPod Touch users on the road would have a small selection of music to use.
Although fresh from the App Store you have a small song collection, the download area is rich – featuring over 2 dozen artists and it’s increasing weekly.
Overall this game is very good and it proves once again it’s one of the best free apps in the App Store – and with only a few minor inconsistencies this app is still worth a spot on your Springboard.
