My suggestion is a iMac, that is the prosumer model. The mini was never designed, marketed, nor intended as a workstation and/or audio/video editing platform It was meant as an introduction to the Mac line. If you, as you say “that i wanted to get into and try” then the machine as it stands should suit, however, if you had in mind more than try, the iMac is the way to go. And by the way, I am curious, why would you need to upgrade the processor, just for fun? It is a serious question, because I have been running a mini (an old one) for several years as a server with no ill effects. Just curious.

It has 3 spare usb ports and, attractively, a firewire 800 port. Mac also has fantastic programs for audio/video editing that i wanted to get into and try. But the processor being unupgradable is a big no-no for me- because as my needs increase there is no way make the computer keep pace with my needs (high definition video editing). I already bought a 4gb kit of ram for this too! I will have to explore other options.
