Slow down Apple!
I don’t know if you are like me, but I don’t like buying a product and then see that days later there is a new version of it, Apple has this habit. I don’t know if it’s their strategy to update their products constantly, I also don’t know if it’s working, but what I do know is that it’s annoying to buy a MacBook Pro, and 2 months later a new one comes out and you are in no position to trade in the one you bought for the new one (since there is only a 30 day guarantee).
Let’s take a look to some products:
iPhone:
1st: June 29, 2007
2nd: July 11, 2008
It took 1 year to have an outdated (a way to say it) device.
MacBooks (polycarbonate and aluminum unibody):
1st: May 16, 2006
2nd: November 8, 2006
3rd: May 15, 2007
4th: November 1, 2007
5th: February 26, 2008
6th: October 14, 2008 (aluminum unibody introduced)
7th: January 21, 2009 (update for $999 one)
That’s like 6 months to have an outdated MacBook.
And the examples can go on and on. The only one I’ve been victim of is iLife ’09, because I bought my MacBook on Thanks Giving, that’s just 2 months (or less…) to have outdated software. And the worst of all? You have to pay full price for updating! I’m a huge fan and lover of Apple, but this is the one thing I don’t like and would love to see Apple change. Imagine knowing that your piece of hardware or software will be the most recent for 2 years at least, wouldn’t that be great? I know that you’ll say: “if Apple waited that long people wouldn’t buy nothing months before a new release”, all I’ve got to say is “bleh!”.
So what do you think?
