You may know that there’s a new model coming out within the next few months, but that won’t in any way make the model you buy THIS month perform less effectively (and cars are a lot MORE expensive – most people CAN’T wait until they save up to buy one – you need it to live in modern society!).

Now I certainly understand some level of gadget-envy being involved (it would be for me too – I just bought my first Mac and I would be kicking myself a bit if a new one came out the next week), but it doesn’t make financial sense for Apple to tell people when they’re going to release new equipment – for one, keeping people guessing has an entire industry constantly guessing what they’re doing next (which equates to constant interest) and, as the original poster said, a lot of people would STOP BUYING until the new release – you HAVE to realize that’s bad for a business that’s whole purpose is to make money!

Just my thoughts.

Jai

it’s sad how you can make so solid and “mature”
arguments when that’s not even the point of the
post.

So next time give it a little thought before
you start ranting like a mad psychopath and look
like a jerk to the visitors of community that are here to enjoy what they make on a daily basis like me, and if this
is “ridiculous” for you well maybe you should better
find more people that agrees with you and tell them
to write things that go according to what your
creative mind thinks it’s right.

Oh and BTW if your buying a computer thats over $2000 and
you’ve been saving week after week from work or doing odd jobs because you actually need the computer for school and don’t have the resources like you apparently, it’s not fair that Apple doesn’t even give the hint that out of nowhere they’re updating their machines and you bought that computer a week before and they cost the same or less, it look that’s some selfish minded issues you need to work on.

So how would Apple releasing products less often help you, other than making you less jealous of other people with the latest computers? Sounds to me like there are some personal consumer envy issues you need to work on.

New models of cars come out every year too, even though there is arguably much less advancement in the same timeframe in that industry. Does that cause you the same grief?

Apple succeeds and thrives as a company because of their fast pace of innovation. It’s what makes them interesting to consumers and to the press. To suggest they should change that core aspect of their business and hold back on releasing the latest technology just to make you feel better is ridiculous.

It does it’s job perfect!

A few years ago I would sell my iMac as soon as possible and buy a new one, but now, I really like to keep it as long as I could and when I buy a new one, there has to be drastically new things in it!

If you want to keep up with every new thing Apple is releasing, you have to be a millionaire! (but I do hope they bring out a knew, drastically changed iPhone OS -not hardware- to market pretty soon!)

You only have the choice of what is currently available, with no insight into what is coming down the channels. Honestly, I bought my first Mac (iBook) as a learning tool, to learn Macs. If I had known what the next gen had in store just a few months away, I would have held off and been much happier with my purchase.

I waited over 6 years before buying another Mac because of how I was burned previously, and quite frankly, question another Apple computer purchase for this very reason.

Like the author said, and like Dale said in his comment, I begrudgingly own my Macs. They do the job, but so do the PC counterparts. At least with PCs, the manufacturers are very open about their road maps, allowing you to make better purchasing decisions.

Again wit iWork – the new version came out 3 weeks after and there s no upgrade offer or free upgrade like other software vendors offer.

I’m a supporter through and through, but I’m a grudge supporter now. These occurrences have instilled a Mac-Purchase-Fear in me. I’m scared to get a new Notebook now in fear that a new one with a single new feature will come out a week later unannounced!

If something else comes out it does not take away from the job that your machine can do.
