I ‘m going to make a bit of a shocking admission here. I ‘ve had an invisibleSHIELD for my iPhone 3G sitting round my gadget accessories shelf for ages. I ‘ve used these excellent screen protectors on other devices in the past and loved them “ but I have always been completely useless at applying them. In the past, my wife has always kindly stepped in and done the application for me.
This time round though she has just not had time and the video demo for the full-body application just scared her off I think. At one point I looked around to see if there was a local reseller who would apply the shield for me “ but sadly none of them in our area offer this service.
While we were in a local mall a few days back, I wandered into the Apple Store and took a casual glance at the Power Support Anti-Glare Film Set for the iPhone 3G. I wasn ‘t intending to buy it at first “ until a cunning Apple Store staff member asked if I ‘d like to have that installed for me real quick. That grabbed my attention
The thought of having some good screen protection (not invisibleSHIELD level mind you) and to have it applied for me in just a couple of minutes, was very appealing.
After a quick chat with the wife, and a confirmation that the invisibleSHIELD install was still high on her ‘Do not want to do ‘ list, I was sold and forked over my $14.95 for the Power Support product.
And I am very glad I did. The install was just as quick as promised “ a helpful staff member gave the 3G ‘s screen a good clean and had the film installed in under 5 minutes.
I am liking the film a whole bunch on the iPhone. Although it is only said to ‘resist ‘ smudges and fingerprints, it has very nearly eliminated these on my iPhone so far. It also feels great on the 3G “ I find swiping and other touch interaction with the iPhone easier than ever since applying it.
I ‘ll have to see how it fares over the long haul, but for now I ‘m very happy with this lazy, impulse purchase decision. 🙂
