iTunes 8.1 Features: iTunes DJ

With the release of iTunes 8.1 came the release of the new iTunes DJ feature.  Those that have the latest update to the Remote application put out by Apple will be able to use this new feature.  Here’s how it works.  You’re having a killer party and everyone there has an iPhone or iPod Touch and the Remote application and they connect to your library.  Well they can access all your songs and go to the iTunes DJ playlist and request the next song to be played.  The settings allow you to change the amount of songs displayed coming up and already played.  It also lets you add a welcome message to those browsing your personal library for songs to add.  Now if you are feeling weary about someone browsing through your library then you can add a password so random people can’t add songs to the playlist.  Another great feature lets you enable voting for the songs, the more votes the higher it moves up on the list.  I have given it a try and absolutely love it.  It seems like it will be a sweet addition to a party.  But the one thing I wouldn’t like is all the people at my party sitting around on their iPhones and iPods and not having a good time.  Make sure you get the Remote application from the App Store and then download the new iTunes!
