South by Southwest (SXSW) is one of the biggest events in my lovely home town of Austin each year, and it kicks off tomorrow. It ‘s a set of interactive, film, music, and technology festivals and conferences “ see its Wikipedia entry HERE for more details.
SXSW attracts lots of cutting edge technology makers and tech bloggers / media, and plenty of people who are early adopter types for all sorts of new or hot tech products. It seems a natural fit for some iPhone apps to be created around SXSW.
The first one I ‘ve spotted is called Rackspace Lounge Party “ and it looks like good fun.
The app lets you place your face “ or anyone ‘s face you choose – within a set of comical images created specially for the event. Here ‘s a quick example:
The app is simple to use. You simply choose to use a new or existing photo, and then pick which image to combine it with. Adjust the brightness if you feel the need, and then save your new image. There ‘s no option to email or otherwise share your new image as yet “ but the app ‘s description states that it is only ‘available ‘ during the Rackspace Cloud Lounge Party “ so perhaps sharing features, or something different and new will be added in time for that. In any case, you can always screencap your created images and then share them however you like.
I think this app is a good idea. A nice promo tool for Rackspace and for their Cloud Lounge Party event.
I expect we may see a few more SXSW specific apps soon.
