Quick Look: 3banana Notes for iPhone

3banana Notes for iPhone

3banana Notes is another good option in the crowded note-taking apps category for the iPhone.  There are a number of strong programs in this category, and (as is so often the case) the ‘best ‘ apps are ones that suit your own set of needs and wants from a notes app.

3banana Notes ‘ key features include:

  • Notes are synced between iPhone and your online (free) account easily and quickly
  • Sharable “ you can securely share private notes
  • Secure “ notes are backed up on Amazon Web Services

3banana seems keen to brand itself as a ‘social ‘ notes app “ and has built-in buttons for sharing your notes to Twitter and Facebook – though I have not yet managed to get the Twitter piece to work correctly “ it just takes me to my Twitter home page and never asks for authorization.

It lets you both view and edit notes on the iPhone

The app has a fairly basic interface, and is very easy to use.  It has only three action buttons on its bottom bar “ which do the following: Sync, Add Photo Note, Add Text Note.

I suppose one of the obvious competitors for 3banana Notes is Evernote, which has had a much-admired iPhone app out ever since it was just a web app shortcut. 3banana does not offer voice notes capability as Evernote does, and I assume it does not have the same sort of image scanning / text recognition capabilities as Evernote, since nothing is mentioned in the app ‘s description.  Also, 3banana is a pure ‘online ‘ app “ no desktop version at the moment.

For many iPhone users, some of those Evernote features may not matter at all “ in which case 3banana is a worthy alternative if you ‘re just after a good, easy to use notes app that will sync to somewhere.

I’ve been an Evernote user for a long while now, so I just have too much data to think about switching right now “ but I certainly found 3banana good to work with during testing it.

You can find 3banana Notes in the App Store now, and it ‘s a free app.  You can also visit http://3banana.com/ for more information and to register for a free account.
