A second degree burn can’t do any serious damage except for scarring. I think you went to a wrong doctor or something.

As the daughter of a burn survivor and a healthcare worker who has extensive experience working with burns and wounds, you need to back up your information a little better. Your post does not indicate the percentage of the body that was burned. This plays a huge role in recovery and scarring. Partial thickness burns aka 2nd Degree can vary in severity and oftentimes may require skin grafts to encourage healing. While I think the lawsuit is a little ridiculous, you might want to consult a real burn doctor next time instead of relying on the internet. I am mostly irritated with your minimalization of this person’s injuries. Burns are serious and can affect each person differently. My mother suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 40% of her body. This was a significant injury and it took more than 2-3 weeks for her to recover. Be a little more sensitive next time.
