
Here are a list of features for the 3.0 software update to the iPhone. These features were announced live at Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0 preview event on Tuesday, March 17th. These features will be updated as more are announced throughout the event. Event begins at 10:00am PST
- 1,000 new API’s for Developers
- In-App purchase allows users to purchase “new content” for an app (30% of sales to Apple)
- Peer to Peer connectivity inside the same App (great for games)
- Accessory developers can build custom apps that talk directly to specific hardware
- Maps application is now an API which devs can embed into their applications
- Push notification
- Streaming Video that adjusts to your current bandwidth
- Cut, Copy, and Paste (Kevin Rose was right!)
- Landscape Keyboard included across all key Apps
- Support for MMS
- Forward and Delete multiple messages
- Voice Memos
- 2 Additional calendar types
- Changes to Stocks app
- Stereo Bluetooth
The Developer Beta of 3.0 is available today. Consumers will have to wait until this Summer.
