Video capabilities will be included in the next iPhone interation according to this article by AppleInsider. Little else is know, however this information reportedly comes from a “person who’s proven extremely reliable when predicting changes to the Cupertino-based company’s hardware offerings.”
As of now, it appears the only way to get video capibility is through an upgraded camera. That in turns means you have to buy a new iPhone to get video.
This sounds about right. People have wanted video since the first iPhone was launched. What better way to bolster next generation hardware sales than offer a feature you can’t simply get throught a software update? Personally I think they delayed it not just to have a new feature to sell later but because of performance and or battery issues, not from hardware limitations.
