The onboard recording hardware limited the jailbroken iPhone to only record at 15 fps, anyway. I think one of the main limitations of the iPhone for not recording videos was the onboard memory. It might have failed if written to in excess or so some rumor I’ve heard goes.

Apple will add features to the iPhone whenever they please and that should be good enough. You really need to bottle-feed the average smartphone user so they don’t get overwhelmed or have problems using whatever features are offered. When Apple offers true video recording to the iPhone, I’m certain they will do a very good job integrating it and end user will use the feature constantly and enjoy it.

In conjunction with a beefier network, the iPhones should be even able to send video MMS to other users and that would be nice. Korea and Japan have had features like this for years.
