Wolfenstein 3D Out Now in the App Store, Doom Coming Soon
Very good news today for iPhone “owning fans of classic, old school first-person shooter games. Wolfenstein 3D Classic has been released and is in the App Store now, and Doom is also being worked on and will be coming to the iPhone soon.
The iPhone versions of both games are coming from their original creators as well “ id Software.
I ‘m ashamed to admit, I ‘ve never played Wolfenstein “ though I have logged many an hour playing Doom “ but Brandon tells me it deserves the ‘classic ‘ label and he ‘s very much looking forward to giving it a go.

Wolfenstein 3D Classic is rated 12+ for the following:
- Frequent/Intense Horror/Fear Themes
- Frequent/Intense Cartoon or Fantasy Violence
- Infrequent/Mild Profanity or Crude Humor
You can find Wolfenstein 3D Classic in the App Store now, priced at $4.99.
There was also a free, jailbreak version of the app floating around before the App Store release “ I ‘m not certain if that one is still available.
UPDATE: I ‘m told by an iPhone developer via Twitter that the jailbreak version is still around: ‘Jailbreak one is still there, and it’s the open source shareware release. Just one episode, not all 6. ‘

For me this was a must buy. Why? Because I've played Wolf so many times and never actually owned it. I've owned every doom version, but wolf enstein was just one I never ended up paying for. At $4.99 for the iPhone version it's a great deal for a classic game and I'm really pleased that id brought it back. The game is just how it should be, and if doom is just as untouched when it comes out I'll be in “id” heaven.
Go buy it. Now.

Still the same, and still as insanely hard as ever. And, thanks to the absence of an mid-level save, it is even more frustrating than I recall. I am not the finely tuned killing machine I once was..I need savepoints!!!
