Apple is reportedly selling, iPhone 3G with no service contract, and at the unsubsidized prices of $599 for 8 GB model and $699 for the 16 GB model. This comes just a handful of days after AT&T began offering iPhones to AT&T customers without a contract.
It appears you don’t even have to be an AT&T customer to buy unrestricted quantities of iPhones from Apple’s retail stores, compaired to being able to buy only one from AT&T and be a current customer.
If it holds true, it would be difficult to interperite this any other way than Apple preparing to introduce a new iPhone.
