Some time ago Skype CEO Josh Silverman was asked about Skype for the iPhone. Without giving away the goat (I’m not sure what that means) all he could say was ‘stay tuned’. With that in mind, I know we all realised it was only a matter of time before Skype hit the iPhone.
Now, new word is coming out via a ‘reliable’ tipster over at Gigaom. The word is that Skype is almost ready to launch on the iPhone… Perhaps as early as next week. This would make sense, seeing at CTIA kicks off next week. CTIA is a great platform to launch products, services, apps and everything else techno-geeky-ish.
Stay tuned for more on this one, but there’s no doubt Skype has to get movin’ on the whole mobile thing in order to continue growth and success. While they do have a Windows Mobile client, I know iPhone, BlackBerry and all other types of smartphone devices are pining for Skype. Enough of these other 3rd party apps that make use of Skype. It’s time for Skype to release their own version of Skype Mobile on all major platforms… to real in the Skype die-hards.
