New Xserves are expected for release anytime now, according to this report by AppleInsider.
The tip off came when one of their readers noticed in a pre-release build of Mac OS X 10.5.7, listings of a Xserve 3,1 in the AppleTyMCEDriver extension file. The current Xserve model is listed as Xserve 2,1.
Based on this information, Mac OS X 10.5.7 may ship with the new Xserves, or visa versa within the next two weeks or so.
