Come Back 3.0, All Is Forgiven

30Beta2

I told you I was a flip-flopper, lasting only 48 hours in resisting the temptation to try out the iPhone OS 3.0 beta.  Then I downgraded that flip-flop “ and believe it or not that downgrade also lasted all of 48 hours.  Being on a jailbroken 2.2.1 firmware was less satisfactory than the 3.0 beta for me “ so I swapped back to 3.0 this past Saturday while watching some great NCAA hoops.

This, of course, has given me great practice on memorizing my WiFi network ‘s key, the Google Sync server address, Gmail ‘s incoming and outgoing IMAP server addresses, and my Friendfeed remote key.  And fantastic practice at spending ages re-arranging apps and home screens to make them ‘work for me ‘ after each restore.

Despite all that fun stuff, I ‘m glad to be back on 3.0.  Even with its typical beta bugs and some noticeable lag in places, I find it nicer to work with now “ and I really did miss Spotlight search and copy/ paste as soon as I downgraded.

My timing this time round seems good as well “ as a new beta version has been released today (yesterday really by now).  I ‘ve just installed it and I ‘m writing this while waiting on its lengthy first sync with iTunes.  So I ‘ll have some thoughts on iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 2 a little later on.

Oh, just noticed – they really did change the default icon arrangement on Home screen 1.
