qSMS updated, qBirthdays added

I’m not jailbroken any more but when I was there was only one jailbreak app on my iPhone: qSMS. This lovely little SMS app replacement was updated a little while ago with some awesome new features — chief among them for me:
-a call button in each threaded message section
-memory leak fixes (ok, not a feature but still very welcome!)
-new ways to call the program up (double tap the top bar)

You can see all the changes here. But the devs over at goodiphone released something else with the patch…

qBirthdays!!

This digital doodad runs on the new qBoard (a launcher for springboard apps, as far as I can tell) and will notify you of any upcoming anniversaries or birthdays.  Birthday can be taken from your contact details if it’s there, which is a nice touch. The app can create background alerts (see screenshot above) just like qSMS but also adds unlock screen support so you can see upcoming events at a glance. Just keep in mind that the app is completely separate from the default calendar app, so if you have birthdays on your cal you might get some double reminders 🙂
The update to qSMS is free for owners and qBirthday is on sale right now for around $6.50 USD.
