Ex Age of Empires Devs Bringing Apps to The iPhone App Store

I used to be a big fan of Age of Empires, and think I still have a disc for it laying around somewhere.  So I was interested to see a recent post at TUAW, that points out that some of the developers who worked on that classic game have now moved onto the iPhone OS platform, after Microsoft shut down their previous company, Ensemble Studios.

And even more interested to learn that one of my favorite iPhone games “ Chess With Friends “ is from one of these Ex-Ensemble Studios teams “ called Newtoy.

The other “ newer “ iPhone game to come from former Ensemble Studios folks is called iQuarterback “ shown in the screencap at the top of this post.  I ‘ve actually been meaning to check this one out soon:

The folks at FuzzyCube Software dropped us a note that their first game, iQuarterback, is in the App Store now, and it looks all right — rather than actually quarterback a game, you mostly just try to hit passing targets. And while the game is pretty barebones right now (it’s only 99 cents, and they’re planning to add new modes to it in the next version)

Just another little sign of how significant a games platform the iPhone OS has become
