Novelty iPhone Apps: iNap@Work Should’ve Starred In Office Space

iNap@Work

This app would have fit perfectly into the movie ‘Office Space ‘ if iPhones would ‘ve been around when it was made.  It ‘s called iNap@Work and it ‘s a classic slacker app if ever there was one.  I can just picture Peter running this app at his desk.

Here ‘s a quick slice of its App Store description:

iNap@Work is the perfect app for anyone who needs to catch up on some much-needed sleep by creating random common office sounds that let everyone around you know how hard you ‘re working.

I couldn ‘t resist giving this one a quick look, and tried it out some this afternoon.  It ‘s very simple to use, not surprisingly.  All you do is choose how frequently you ‘d like each of the five typical ‘busy office worker ‘ type sounds to be made.  The five are: keyboard typing, mouse clicks, misc. office (pencil sharpener, writing, stapler etc.), paper shuffling, and human noises (clearing throat, sniffing).

That ‘s it “ once you choose your frequency settings you just hit ‘Nap ‘ and let it fire away.

My only concern in trying this one out is that the volume feels to me like it needs to be increased.  I was giving it a go in my living room, with not much other noise going on and with the iPhone at max. volume, and it was certainly audible, but it didn ‘t sound strong.  I imagine in an even moderately busy office environment, this just won ‘t be loud enough.

Whoa, I ‘m taking this app way too seriously!  A little more tolerance for the (evil genius) slackers who invented this slacker app is probably called for.

I work mostly at home these days, so have only my faithful Labrador to convince I ‘m working away all day “ and he is usually deep, deep napping.  So I probably won ‘t keep this one very long “ but it ‘s a funny concept for sure, and I ‘ll keep it around in iTunes for a quick reinstall if I have to do more office hours anytime soon. 🙂

iNap@Work is in the App Store now, priced at $0.99.
