As promised, Quickoffice has launched their Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite in the iPhone App Store this weekend.  The mobile suite provides the ability to view and edit Word and Excel documents on the iPhone. It promises:

Enterprise-Grade Microsoft Word and Excel Office functionality with leading-edge innovation, convenience, and unparalleled ease of use. Quickoffice maintains 100% data integrity and guarantees Microsoft compatibility.

The Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite is made up of three applications “ Quickword (for working with Word docs), Quicksheet (for Excel spreadsheets), and Quickoffice Files (for remote access, email, WiFi and file management).

Here are just some of the features of the Word and Excel components of the first iPhone Office suite:

Quickword:

  • Edit and create MS Word files
  • Intuitively cut/copy/paste text anywhere, including to another doc
  • Simple to Undo / Redo text changes
  • Auto-save and Auto-restore
  • Quickly edit bulleted / numbered lists
  • Edit with landscape keyboard

Quicksheet

  • Edit and create MS Excel spreadsheets
  • Professional grade calculation engine
  • Supports advanced Excel features, Implicit Intersection, Array Formulas, Named Ranges
  • Simply tap, hold, and slide your finger to increase / decrease Column Width / Row Height
  • Switch easily between sheets in a workbook
  • Extensive formatting “ bold, italic, cell background, font colors, accounting, currency, decimals, currency symbols
  • Auto-save and Auto-restore

Those are just very trimmed-down lists of features for the two primary apps in the suite.  Check the App Store page for Quickoffice Mobile Office Suite for the full features list for all three of its component apps.

I ‘m not sure whether I ‘ll give this one a look or not yet.  Although I ‘m keen to see how well it works, it ‘s priced at $19.99, which is very steep for me, as I don ‘t have to work with Office documents that often these days.

As always, I ‘d love to hear thoughts from any of you who have tried it, or are thinking of getting it soon

Sounds like this has been rushed to the App Store. No email capability, no spell check, and a host of other problems.

JNGold – that doesn't sound great. Hopefully those will be resolved quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if they were rushing to be out before Documents To Go for iPhone …

This company has some serious ethics issues. Read the
Quicksheet reviews in iTunes. I was one who purchased
MobileFiles Pro that soon became Quicksheet. Quickoffice
advertised MobileFiles Pro as the application that would have
all of the features of what is now Quickoffice. So those early
    adopters got the shaft…

tmanns – I thought Mobile Files Pro had always been just a file transfer app. Was not aware that it ever claimed to be morphing into an office suite app. Is there a way to see the initial promo or similar that you saw promising that?
