I miss Microsoft Voice Command

Both my arms were tied up on my walk home today and I very badly wanted to change the song to something by Metric. The problem was that my iPhone was in my pocket and the iPod was set to shuffle. Yes, I could have easily set the things I was carrying down on the floor and then switched the playlist to Metric on my iPhone “ but I remember a little something from my WinMo days that would have done the trick with a few audio cues.

Microsoft Voice Command seems expensive, but holy crap is it cool. I remember being able to do something like tap one button, dictate ‘Play: artist, metric ‘, and then have the songs come on moments later over WMP or Pocket Player. The shuffle just might be headed slowly in that direction with their latest voice-over announcement system “ I can only hope full iPod voice control is in the works.

There are rumors that this may be coming in 3.0. See this Giz post as an example: http://tinyurl.com/cn7hke.

I'd love, love, love to see this as well Rags – I was also a fan of Voice Command, even though some of my clients thought I was an uber-dork when I used it :)

sounds like that's still just voice feedback and not actual recognition if I read that right.
