Enjoying The NBA Finals on the iPhone

I ‘ve enjoyed the NBA more this year than I have in many years.  Seems like there are more exciting stars in the league now than at any time I can recall “ Kobe, Lebron, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Deron Williams, Brandon Roy, and on and on.  There are also some great teams, as The Magic in particular have shown so well during the playoffs.

Anyway, I ‘ve been glued to a lot of the playoffs and I ‘m looking forward to the finals kicking off tonight “ so I figured I ‘d put together a little post on some of the ways you can show your finals spirit, and enjoy the finals more, via the iPhone.

First off, I noticed some tweets today from Appledeco. org, a cool iPhone wallpapers site, that ‘s featuring the Lakers and Magic wallpapers shown above.  Check them out HERE.

You can also find some Kobe Bryant wallpapers HERE.  I looked for Dwight Howard walls at a couple of sites, but did not find any “ maybe that ‘ll change after these finals. 🙂

In addition to more general sports apps like Sports Tap (covering most major US sports, with scores and recaps) I spotted a couple nice-looking free apps that look to be the ‘official ‘ NBA offerings, and are dedicated to NBA coverage:

Here ‘s the description for NBA Game Time, which you can find HERE in the App Store:

NBAGameTime

NBA Highlights “ which you ‘ll find HERE in the App Store “ is the video companion to NBA Game Time, and offers game recaps, top plays of the day, post game interviews, and ‘special features ‘.

If you ‘re in need of a bit of hoops action of your own on the iPhone during the commercial breaks, I recommend 3-Point Skills Challenge and Flick NBA for showing off and honing your skillz.

I ‘m sure there are plenty of other fun apps for playing and following hoops on the iPhone, these are just a few that I ‘ve tried and liked, or that caught my eye today (in the case of the two official NBA apps).

If you ‘re a Friendfeed user, check out the Sports Talk 2.0 room “ via Friendfeed in Mobile Safari, or the Buddyfeed native app “ and they ‘ll be a live discussion for each game in the series with lots of rapid sharing of thoughts.  Look for posts titled along the lines of ‘Unofficial Official Live Thread ‘ or just use FF ‘s search bar to search for NBA finals within that room.

I ‘ll be using many of these apps and services to add to the excitement of the finals.  I probably won ‘t use a wallpaper as I ‘m not a huge fan of either team, so I ‘ll be a neutral, just hoping for some more great basketball
